I am Shekita Long (she/her)—a passionate advocate for transformative perinatal experiences and a dedicated community health worker (CHW). As a CAAPA-trained birth and labor doula, Army veteran, yoga teacher, and Reiki practitioner, I specialize in mindfulness and wellness, guiding you through one of life’s most profound journeys. With additional training in Spinning Babies techniques and certification as an A.C.T.T. Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood (BSFM) facilitator, I am committed to empowering you with evidence-based practices that prioritize your safety and well-being. As co-director of Community Outreach for The Lunar Doula Collective and a board member of the Detroit Psychedelic Society, I actively engage with our community to foster support and connection. I am deeply passionate about continuing education and volunteer as a UofM Dial-A-Doula. Additionally, I am an active member of the Motor City Doula Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting birth professionals in Metro Detroit. I believe that birth transcends being a medical event; it is a transformative life experience that deserves honor and respect. I embrace the traditions and rituals surrounding birth, advocating for informed choices and compassionate care for you and your family. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where you can thrive, embrace your journey, and celebrate the incredible power of bringing life into the world.
