The Luz de Atabey Midwifery Project (LAMP) facilitates preconception, prenatal and postpartum support that is culturally rooted, trauma informed and fills existing gaps in Austin, Texas. LAMP seeks to improve the prenatal and postpartum experiences of Black, Indigenous and people of color, especially immigrants, refugees and queer and trans families.

We provide accessible preconception support, nutritional counseling, herbal support, prenatal and postpartum wellness and lactation support for people who are planning to be or are currently pregnant.

We strongly believe in providing culturally rooted and connected care. The project is QTBIPOC led, and our partners are all BIPOC. We recognize that our communities have experienced significant trauma, and we seek to center their expertise about their needs and their care in our approach.

We utilize the midwifery model of care because it allows for a person centered approach that facilitates trust and support vital for our communities to get the care they need to thrive.
